CENTRAL AMERICA

The working repertoire in Mexico covers regional mexicano including corridos tumbados, banda, norteño and mariachi, plus cumbia, pop and rap. Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City drive very different sounds. Most recordings are made in Spanish, with Indigenous-language releases and some English, with titles set in the Latin alphabet. That keeps metadata straightforward: preserve accents and special characters exactly as the artist writes them, use one spelling of the artist name on every release, and tag each title with the language actually sung.

The local currency is Mexican peso (MXN). Royalties are reported in the currency the platform pays out in rather than converted market by market, so the exchange rate between reporting and withdrawal is worth planning for. Listeners here mostly reach new music through streaming services, YouTube, radio and a very large live circuit. Which platforms and stores a release can reach in this territory varies and is subject to current availability, eligibility and platform rules.
